Feather Hair Clip Tutorial

Did you stay up way too late last night watching Downton Abbey? I was literally glued to the screen taking in every little detail. One aspect of the show that I love is with each new episode and season time seems to pass very quickly, the show will pass months in between episodes, so you get to see the changes in fashion. This new season takes place in 1920 and I was in love with the hair styles and clothing. I was swooning over the beading of the daughters dresses, the new up-do hair styles and large over-sized feathers in the womens' hair.

You will need:
> Feathers ( I bought a feather flower pick in the fake flower section of Walmart)
> Hot glue gun
> Scissors
> Ribbon
> Lighter
> Alligator hair clip

Slightly burn the edge of your ribbon to prevent fraying.
Glue your ribbon under the top section of your hair clip.
Add a layer glue to the top of your hair clip and fold your ribbon over and press firmly.
Cut your ribbon with just a bit left at the end and singe the edges.
Add a small drop of glue and fold it over the edge of the hair clip. Make sure your add a small dab of glue or when you press down the extra glue will burn you. Ouch.
Cut the wire pick section of your feathers about one inch below where the feathers start. I was able to use scissors and bend the wire back and forth until it broke. If your wire is thicker you may need to use wire cutters.
Wrap another piece of ribbon around the top section of your clip and let dry.
That's all! I love being inspired by things all around me, even shows I watch on TV. If you watched the season premiere last night what was your favorite new fashion that the Crawley daughters are wearing this season?
