crock pot recipe : sugared pecans

i planned on making something yummy for my father-in-law for fathers day. he loves loves love pecans, so i thought this recipe would be wonderful. it was super easy and we ate like half of them before i actually got them in the jar. when they come out of the slow cooker they are warm and buttery...yum!

You will need:
>16 ounces pecans or walnut halves
>1/2 cup melted unsalted butter
>1/2 cup powdered sugar
>1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
>1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
>1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

1. Turn slow cooker to HIGH about 15 minutes in advance. In hot slow cooker, stir together the nuts and butter.
2. Add the powdered sugar, stirring to blend and coat evenly. Cover and cook on HIGH for 15 minutes. Reduce the heat to LOW and remove lid; cook, uncovered, stirring occasionally, for about 2 to 3 hours, or until the nuts are coated with a crisp glaze.
3. Transfer the nuts to a bowl.
4. In another small bowl, combine the spices; sift over the nuts, stirring to coat evenly.
Let cool before serving.

i thought they would also be yummy sprinkled on a salad with cranberries and blue cheese....ha!
we are headed to my dads for a fathers day visit, have a great weekend friend!

*my gift-away is still open until monday!

Oh my goodness, you have no idea how happy this post makes me!!! I eat candied pecans or candied walnuts on every salad but the grocery store near my house no longer carries them :( I was about to start ordering them online but I'll have to try making my own first! Thank you!

Storage? Or do they needed to be consumed immediately? Do they require refrigeration? Can they be frozen? What is their shelf life? Thx.

How long do these store for? Is it best to keep them in an air tight container or in the fridge...they look amazing!!

Could one substitute a different kind of nut, say...almonds for an example?
Thanks!

Wow! I have always done them in the oven, but I am a sucker for anything slow-cooker! Thank you so much for this delicious looking recipe. xoxo

Just tried these and they are AMAZING!!!! The only thing I did different was I mixed the spices in with the powdered sugar and then coated the pecans and set them to cooking. Made the house smell amazing as well.

I wonder about using cashews instead?

Are these sticky? Do they need to dry in anyway, I would think they would be gooey and stick together from the moisture.

Fun and can't wait to try your method....this is great to apply to my go to spicy pecan recipe. for 2c toasted in a pan I add 1/4c Turbinado sugar, 1/4 tsp ground pepper, cayenne & paprika w/3tbs Maple syrup...I'll see how both work so I can do in bulk as holiday gifts...thanks for the crock pot idea.
